2022 Moranbah North
Emergency services were called to the Moranbah North mine, about 210km west of Mackay, at 10.09pm with reports a worker had suffered serious injuries.
A police spokeswoman said a 59-year-old man suffered critical injuries and he died at the scene.
Multiple Queensland Ambulance crews were tasked to the mine but were stood down after the first unit arrived at the incident.
Mines inspectors from Resources Safety and Health Queensland are on-site and have commenced an investigation.
Anglo American owns Moranbah North, an underground longwall operation that produces hard coking coal.
