2024 Grosvenor Explosion and Fire
There are reports of a methane explosion at approximately 6am on Saturday the 29th of June 2024 near the tailgate end of the face on 105 Longwall at the Grosvenor Mine near Moranbah, Queensland, which continued to burn as a methane fire. Fortunately there are no reports of any injuries to workers at the mine and the mine has been completely evacuated.
The fire continued to burn and became out of control. The mine has not been able to be sealed to control the underground mine fire.
